NANA 2

(Redirected from NANA 2 (film))
Nana 2 Movie Poster

NANA 2 (ナナ2) is the sequel to NANA, the adaptation of the manga. The film was again directed by Ootani Kentarou and is currently in theatres. Little is known about the film at this time, though it is expected to pick up from where the first left off after Komatsu Nana meets Trapnest, a fictional band in the movie.

The movie was released nationwide December 9th, 2006. It was also screened in New York in the US on December 18th with both Nakashima and Ichikawa present.

Casting Changes

Rumors began in early summer 2006 that gravure idol Ichikawa Yui would be replacing Miyazaki Aoi in her role as Komatsu Nana. These rumors were turned into fact on August 3rd, 2006, when it was officially announced that Yui would replace Aoi in the sequel. Reasons for Aoi's refusal to do the second film were many; Aoi didn't want to tarnish her reputation as an actress with the bedroom scenes that would happen in the sequel. Another reason was that TBS had announced the cast members from the first film would be back for the second, something Aoi hadn't agreed to or signed a contract for. Also, because the latter volumes of the manga (the ones the sequel would focus on) would give Nakashima Mika (who plays Oosaki Nana) more screentime, Aoi's management didn't want her to be simply a sub-costar. Matsuda Ryuhei, who played Honjou Ren in the first film, also will be replaced for the sequel. This is most likely due to the contract issues Aoi faced. The first actor for Shin, Matsuyama Kenichi, will also be replaced by young actor Hongo Kanata because of the fact that Kenichi is too old to play the 15-year-old character.
