Biography

Sugazaki Akane first made an impression in the music award when she won the Amuse Okinawa Actors School Grand Prix contest in 1998. Two years later, she would enter the school's MAKINO WORLD POPS Osaka school where she became a member of the group B.B. WAVES for a year. After leaving the school, Sugazaki would auditioned entered a few auditions for a label deal including winning the Grand Prix award for the Miss Pure Pure Audition 2001.

In 2002, then 13-year-old Sugazaki won GIZA studio's "SUPER STARLIGHT CONTEST", singing Kuraki Mai's "Stand Up". A GIZA studio producer saw her on the show and instantly encouraged her to make a debut with the label. Later in the same year, she released her first single, "beginning dream". Although it only hit on number 38 on the Oricon charts, many people were interested with the newcomer's unique voice. Some people even predicted she was going to be the next Kuraki Mai, as both had the same simple style of clothing and had very few appearances yet made an incredibly large fanbase.

In spring of 2007, Sugazaki was fired from her agency Stadium Production because of her long hiatus.
