NMB48 is the Osaka-based version of the idol groups AKB48 and SKE48.
Its name derives from the Namba area in Osaka where the group will perform regularly.
Auditions were held in September 2010. 26 girls passed. The group made its first appearance on Ocotber 9. Stage activities will begin in November 2010.
