S/mileage promoting "Asu wa Date na no ni, Ima Sugu Koe ga Kikitai"

S/mileage is a Japanese pop girl group produced by Up-Front Agency and part of Hello! Project. The group is one of three units made up entirely of members of Hello! Pro Egg.

Members

History

S/mileage was announced on Tsunku's blog on April 4, 2009 and was given its name on May 8, 2009. Tsunku has said that in order to make the best group possible, additional members may be added or current members may be removed.

On November 23, 2009, they received a video message from Tsunku during the Shinjin Kouen concert in which he announced their graduation and major debut for Spring 2010.

  • Tsunku explained the group name as being a three-way pun. "As you can see, it's taken from both 'smile' and 'mileage'. It means the age of smiles, also takes meaning from 'smile' and 'age'."
