Chiba Saeko was born on August 26, 1977 in Hachinohe, Aomori Prefecture. When she was a little girl, Chiba dreamed of becoming a member of the famous all girls theatre troupe [[Takarazuka Kagekidan]] and trained in ballet. However, she gave up on the dream when she failed an examination to enter [[Takarazuka Koukou|Takarazuka High School]] when she was a third year student in high school. Instead, she became a fourth generation member of the theatre troupe [[Minami Aoyama Shoujo Kagekidan]] in 1994. She quickly began to act in various plays, commercials and even in the video game called ''[[Omakase! Savers]]'' with the group [[FEEL (idol group)|FEEL]]. She graduated from Minami Aoyama Shoujo Kagekidan in 1996.
