"Hero / Ashita e" is the 11th single released by FUNKY MONKEY BABYS. It was released in three versions: a regular CD only edition, a limited edition type A containing a DVD with "Hero" music video and a limited type B also containing a DVD with "Ashita e" music video. "Hero" was used as the theme song for the TV programs Zoom in!! SUPER and Zoom in!! Saturday, while "Ashita e" was used as the image song for the Dai 88-kai Zenkoku Koukou Sakka Senshuken Taikai. Announcer Hatori Shinichi appears on the "Hero" limited edition jacket cover and "Hero" music video. Soccer player Nakayama Masashi appears on the "Ashita e" limited edition and regular edition jacket covers, as well as, "Ashita e" music video. The single reached #4 on the Oricon weekly charts and charted for 14 weeks.
