Information

THE FIRST QUESTION AWARD is the debut full length studio album recorded by CORNELIUS. The album was written, arranged, and produced by Oyamada Keigo with Ken Makimura acting as executive producer. It was released in three editions: a limited edition slipcase with color case and card set, and the regular CD and Vinyl formats, each with different album art. The album comes a few months after the release of his intial solo debut as CORNELIUS' Holidays in the Sun EP. The record is a mix of classic rock and soul with a mix of modern J-Pop. A couple songs feature guest vocals from singers like Pizzacto Five's Nomiya Maki and bridge's Otomo Mami, with drums by Yoshié. The song "Theme From First Question Award" was covered by Kaji Hideki on the split single with CORNELIUS, and reworked on his solo single "LA BOUM ~MY BOOM IS ME~".

Oymada has claimed that he used a lot of experimental elements on the record but overall his goal was to create well crafted pop music.[1] THE FIRST QUESTION AWARD reached #4 on the weekly Oricon chart.
