Oha Star (おはスタ) is a popular children entertainment program in Japan. The show's full title is Oha Star The Super Kids Station. It airs on the TV Tokyo network Monday through Friday 6:45am to 7:30am and is hosted by Yamadera Kouichi. It made it's premiered on October 1, 1997. Oha Star is a remake of the show Ohayou Studio, a similar show that aired on TV Tokyo from 1979 to 1986.
The show's "Oha" comes from the word "ohayo", which means good morning. Host Yamadera Kouichi also used the word "ohayo" when he opens the show with the greeting "Oha" (おーはー). Meanwhile, "Suta" comes from "sutajio", which is from the English word "studio".
Many popular celebrities of today made their start on Oha Star, including Becky, Ando Nozomi, Fruits Punch, and many more.
Broadcast
Oha Star is broken into two segments. The show starts at 6:45 am JST by broadcasting to TXN and Biwako Broadcasting. This segment is called "Oha Star 645". It currently features a variety of animation shorts, a song of the day, guests, and daily topics since 2009.
At 7:05 am JST, the show also broadcasts to Nara TV and TV Wakayama. This is the main segment of the show as it is called "Oha Live". It features various of daily discussion topics, guests, and music performances. Each day of the week features a main topic; Monday is sports, Tuesday is music, Wednesday is game, Thursday is hobby, and Friday is various topics on the weekend and school.
