Oha Star (おはスタ) is a popular children entertainment program in Japan. It airs on the TV Tokyo network Monday through Friday 6:45am to 7:30am and is hosted by Yamadera Kouichi. It premiered in 1997. This show is a remake of Ohayou Studio (おはようスタジオ), a similar show that also aired on TV Tokyo from 1979 (back when the network was called "Tokyo 12 Channel") to 1986 (by which time the network renamed to "TV Tokyo"). For this reason, "suta" comes from "sutajio", a "Japanicization" of the English word "studio", thus the name Oha Suta (Star). The show's full title is "Oha Star: The Super Kids Station".
