Information

Morikawa Miho got her start in her music career after winning the grand prix award from the Yamaha Music Contest's The Debut in 1983. She later starred in the musical Shoukoujo Sailor with the first place winner of the The Debut. Then, she finally debut as an idol singer two years later with the single "Kyoushitsu". When releasing the single, Morikawa used the catchphrase "Tears will come all at once.". She also had dreams to become an top idol like Honda Minako, Nakayama Miho, Minamino Yoko, and Asaka Yui. To achieved this dream, she started to appear on variety shows and radio shows, even started her own radio show.

But, by 1987, she released the ASKA-penned single "Onna ni Naare" that made her mark as an artist. She later made her stage debut in the Mozart musicial Idomeneo.

Morikawa enjoyed her small popularity in the 80's but soon was an star when she released the Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water theme song single "Blue Water/Yes, I will...". After this hit single, she was called one of the front line member of the girl pop generation of the 90s. Following that, the next album, POP THE TOP!, was recorded in LA in 1990 and reached #1 on the charts.

In 1997 and 1998, Morikawa took on the popular R&B, made popular by Utada Hikaru and MISIA, and incorporated in the single "Soredemo Minna Ikiteiru" and the album "tasty". The year after, she would appear on NHK Young's Pop special, singing the Aretha Franklin popular hit "(You Make Me Feel Like A) Natural Woman". That same year, Morikawa appeared in the musical RENT.

At the turn of the millennium, Morikawa would not stop doing music as she formed the limited time group LOST&FOUND, releasing a single and an album. A year later, she would changed labels from Vaps Record to Yamaha and released the single "Kaze ni Nare ~Like A Wind~". She later starred in the Shiki Theatrical Company-produced musical Aida.

In 2007, Morikawa switched labels once again to Time Entertainment and released an update version of her famous single, "Blue Water (21st century ver.)". That following spring, she formed the unit DIVAxDIVA with Asakura Akira and released only one single, "Yapoo". A year later in 2008, she would switch agencies to KT plus Entertainment and would appear in the musical GIFT.
