After School promoting "Cheot Sarang" (2013)

After School

After School (애프터스쿨) (known as AFTERSCHOOL in Japan) is a 8-member Korean pop group under Pledis Entertainment. They were originally a five member group modeled after the Pussycat Dolls, however in February 2009 Pledis announced After School would become the South Korean Morning Musume and added U-ie to the group in April 2009. Along the years they have gained and graduated members. Currently the group has eight members; Jung-A, Juyeon, U-ie, Raina, Nana, Lizzy, E-Young, and newest member Ka Eun.

They officially debuted in January 2009 with the single "New Schoolgirl" and quickly gained the reputation as the Korean Pussycat Dolls. Soon after the release of their debut single they ditched that style and went to a more sexy girly approach with new member U-ie and released three more digital singles, including their popular hit song "DIVA", until So Young left the group. A month later they added three more members Raina, Nana and Lizzy. The three new members created their own sub-group Orange Caramel with a cute concept, different than After Schools sexy concept.

In February 2011, the group signed with avex, and debuted in Japan participating on Amuro Namie's collaboration album Checkmate!. They debuted on their own in August 2011 with the Japanese version of their popular hit song "Bang!" and became popular in Japan as well as the single reached #7 on the Oricon charts.

Since After Schools debut, they have released 8 Korean singles, 5 Korean digital singles and 1 album. They have released 4 Japanese singles, 5 Japanese Digital singles, 1 Japanese album and a Best Album. The groups eighth single "Cheot Sarang" was released June 13th, 2013.
