Boku ga Mitakatta AozoraBoku ga Mitakatta Aozora (僕が見たかった青空), often abbreviated as Bokuao (僕青), is a Japanese girl group signed to avex trax and managed by Ligareaz Management. Formed and produced by record producer Akimoto Yasushi, they are officially labelled as an "official rival" of girl group Nogizaka46, whose also produced by Akimoto. The group was announced on June 15, 2023, and debuted on August 30th with the single "Aozora ni Tsuite Kangaeru". The auditions held to form the group garnered 35,678 applicants, of which 23 were selected to become the group's first generation members. After releasing their debut single, the group held their first concert Boku ga Mitakatta One Man Live Vol. 0 at New Pier Hall, Tokyo on December 19, 2023. The group received thr New Artist Award and was nominated for Best New Artist at the 65th Japan Record Awards. On January 31, 2024, Boku ga Mitakatta Aozora released their second single "Sotsugyou made". It was the first single to use a senbatsu system, which chose 12 members to participate on the main track, called "Aozora-gumi", while the non-chosen members, called "Kumo-gumi", participated on the b-side. The single topped the Billboard Japan Top Singles Sales, and reached #2 on the Oricon Singles Chart. Four singles were released afterwards: "Spare no Nai Koi" in August 2024, "Suki Sugite Up and down" in November 2024, "Koi wa Baisoku" in March 2025, and "Shisen no Love Letter" in August 2025. Their seventh single, "Are wa Fairy", is released this week on December 17th. |
