INDEPENDENT is the ninth album released by AI. It is her first album under EMI Music Japan. "One Love" was used as the "1 Chocolate for 1 Smile" commercial song while "Utsukushi Kimono" was used as the ending theme song for the movie Berserk Ougon Jidaihen I: Haou no Tamago. The songs "Letter In The Sky", "One Love" and "Utsukushi Kimono" were released previously as digital singles. The album reached #2 on the Oricon weekly charts and charted for 21 weeks. The concert for the DVD was recorded on 2012.06.22 in her final concert of her INDEPENDENT LIVE Tour, which was in Budokan.
