- Information
"Heisei Fuuzoku" is Shiina Ringo's fourth studio album, and her first album since forming her band Tokyo Jihen. It serves as the image album for the movie Sakuran, starring Tsuchiya Anna. The album is available in two versions, a limited edition version in a cross-shaped digipak with three stickers and a coaster, and a regular version. The album is also a collaboration album with frequent collaborator Saito Neko. This album consists of three types of songs: self-covers of Shiina songs from either her solo work or Tokyo Jihen, original songs, and covers of other artists' songs. Unlike most of her other studio albums, the tracklist is asymmetrical. The album debuted at #1 on the Oricon charts, selling a total of 174,824 copies, making it the #70 album of 2007.
Similarities with Other Shiina Ringo Releases
The versions of "Kuki", "Ishiki", "Meisai" and "Poltergeist" featured in this album are studio recordings of the orchestral arrangements from Shiina's "Baishou Ecstasy" tour. "Yokushitsu" combines the orchestral arrangent from "La salle de bain" from the "Ringo no Uta" single and "Yokushitsu" from Shiina's second studio album, "Shouso Strip". Similarly, the Japanese lyrics from "Yokushitsu" and the English lyrics from "La salle de bain" are combined. "Yume no Ato" is the orchestral arrangement of the same song from Tokyo Jihen's "Kyouiku" album, which was used in some of trailers for the film "Sakuran".
The version of "Karisome Otome" in this album is different from the single version. The lyrics are in English and it uses an orchestral arrangement same to that in the HITOKUCHIZAKA version on the "Kono Yo no Kagiri" single. In addition, the version of "Sakuran" on the album has a jazzier arrangement in addition to slightly different lyrics.
