IVE promoting "ELEVEN" (2021)

Pre-Debut

Starship Entertainment trainees Ahn Yujin and Jang Wonyoung had previously appeared on the idol group survival show Produce 48 during the summer of 2018. Wonyoung placed first on the show and Yujin placed fifth. Both became members of the show's project group IZ*ONE from its debut in 2018 until its conclusion in April 2021. After the group's disbandment, both girls went back to Starship.

2021: Debut

IVE was officially announced on November 2, 2021 with the release of a profile picture for first member Yujin. Profile pictures of members Gaeul, Wonyoung, Liz, Rei, and Leeseo followed. The group debuted on December 1, 2021 with their single "ELEVEN". Shortly afterward, the group entered the worldwide iTunes song chart with title track "ELEVEN" at #22. The track then also entered the top 10 of various iTunes song charts across the globe. Meanwhile, the side track of the single album "Take It" entered the iTunes Poland chart at #18 and the iTunes Thailand at #31. "ELEVEN"'s music video hit over 10 million views on YouTube just a day after its release, and became the fastest music video by a K-Pop group debuted that year to hit that mark.

IVE promoting "After LIKE" (2022)

On December 8th's Show Champion, IVE took home their first music show win with "ELEVEN." Taking home the win in just seven days, IVE became the fastest girl group to ever achieve their first music show win after debuting, breaking ITZY's previous record of nine days. Not only that, according to Hanteo Chart, their debut single sold a total of 152,229 copies in its first week, making it the greatest number of first week sales a K-pop girl group has ever achieved. With this, IVE was ranked in the top 3 for physical album sales on Gaon during the first week of December. IVE went on to surpass 2 million cumulative album sales on Circle Chart in just 9 months (274 days), making them the fastest K-Pop group in the chart's history to do so.

During the week of December 13th, IVE appeared on Billboard's Hot Trending Songs chart for the first time at #4. They are the fifth South Korean girl group to land on the chart, behind bit hitting groups TWICE, BLACKPINK, aespa, and ITZY. "ELEVEN" was also tied with TWICE's "SCIENTIST" for the highest ranking song among the aforementioned groups at the time.

On December 27th, their music video surpassed over 50 million views on YouTube, 26 days after release, making them the first 2021 rookie group to hit the milestone. It is the most-viewed 2021 debut music video by a K-Pop group, and the eighth music video released in 2021 by a fourth-generation K-Pop girl group with the most views on YouTube. The music video surpassed 100 million views on March 8, 2022.

On January 22, 2022, IVE won their fourth 1st place award on MBC's Show! Music Core making them one of only four artists to win the quadruple crown on the show in the past decade.

IVE promoting "ELEVEN -Japanese ver.-" (2022)

2022: Rise & Japanese Debut

On April 5, 2022, IVE released their second single album, "LOVE DIVE". The final first-day sales count for the album recorded over 120,000 album sales on Hanteo, which was more than two times the number of their first album has accumulated. One week after release, the song went viral and reached 200 million views for its TikTok challenge. The single also drew 28.9 million streams and sold 2,800 copies outside the U.S. in its first full tracking week. On the Billboard chart dated April 23rd, "LOVE DIVE" ascended to #10 on the Global Excl. US chart, becoming the group's first song to reach the top 10. The music video surpassed 100 million views on June 15th.

On July 18th, Starship Entertainment announced that IVE would make a comeback in August with their third single album, "After LIKE", which was released on August 22nd. The song hit #1 on iTunes charts in various countries across the globe, hitting #4 on the worldwide iTunes album chart, the group's highest peak on the chart, and #25 on the European iTunes album chart. Furthermore, the album reached #1 on iTunes 'Top Album' chart in a total of five countries, including Bahrain, Hong Kong, Finland, Brunei Darussalam, and Singapore. he album sales exceeded 460,000 copies on the first day alone, breaking their own personal record by three times the amount of their previous release. The album sold over 1 million copies a week and a half after its release. This was the highest sales among rookie groups that had debuted that year and the previous year. IVE also became the second girl group ever in Hanteo history to have an album surpassing one million sales after aespa. The music video for "After LIKE" became IVE's fastest music video to exceed 100 million views on YouTube in one month and four days.

On August 10th, it was announced via IVE's official Japanese website that they would make their Japanese debut sometime in fall 2022. On September 8th, it was announced that they would be releasing the Japanese version of "Eleven" on October 19th. The single peaked at #4 on the Japanese Oricon chart and sold 68,229 copies in its first week.

On November 16th, IVE participated in Spotify's annual "Spotify Holiday Single", which consists of project songs presented by various artists directly selected by Spotify ahead of the year-end Christmas season. IVE is the first Korean group artist to participate in the annual Holiday Singles project, reinterpreting their third single title song "After LIKE" as a new holiday remix version and exclusively releasing it on Spotify worldwide.

IVE promoting I've IVE (2023)

2023: First Album

On January 16, 2023, IVE released a Japanese version of "LOVE DIVE", a re-recording of their Korean single of the same name.

On March 16th, it was announced that IVE would be releasing their first studio album, I've IVE. The group pre-released a single from the album, titled "Kitsch", on March 27th. The song achieved a Perfect All-Kill (PAK) on April 3rd, the first of the year. The music video reached #1 on YouTube's Music Video Trending Worldwide chart and exceeded 9.21 million views in 23 hours of release. It also occupied the top spot on YouTube's Popular Videos – Korea chart on March 28th.

On March 24th, it was announced that the group had signed with Columbia Records, a label under Sony Music, for promotion in United States as part of Kakao Entertainment, the parent company of Starship Entertainment, partnership with the label.

On April 1st, it was announced that IVE would be releasing their first Japanese mini-album titled WAVE on May 31st.

On April 10th, their album I've IVE was released. The album earned the third largest debut sales by a K-Pop girl group in Hanteo history, behind the albums of aespa and BLACKPINK, accumulating exactly 601,689 copies in its first day of sales, and exceeded 1 million copies within its first week of release. The album also debuted at #1 on that week's Circle Album Chart, their 4th #1 album on the chart. The group accumulated 4.4 million cumulative album sales in Circle chart's history, becoming the best-selling 4th generation idol girl group. The album also hit #1 on iTunes' top albums chart in a total of 15 regions. The lead track for the album, "I AM", achieved a Perfect All-Kill on April 23rd. That same day, IVE joined 2NE1 as the only K-pop groups in history to replace themselves at #1 on MelOn Weekly Chart, with "I AM" replacing "Kitsch".
