Morning Musume Dai Sankai Member Tsuika Audition

モーニング娘。第2回追加オーディション (Romaji: Morning Musume Dai Nikai Member Tsuika Audition; English: Morning Musume Second Additional Member Audition) is the audition to choose the second generation member(s) of Morning Musume. The audition process was aired on TV show ASAYAN in 1999. The winners were Kago Ai, Tsuji Nozomi, Ishikawa Rika and Yoshizawa Hitomi.

Requirements

Female, minimum of 7th grade student.

First round

Over 25.000 applications were received, and 35 girls were chosen in the first round.

Second round

35 girls chosen from the first round (but only 28 of them were introduced when the ASAYAN episodes aired).

For the second round, the videotape and profile of each girl is viewed by Tsunku, who then arbitrarily selects the ones he wants to go into the third round.

Results

After completing the temple training camp the final candidates were narrowed down to ten people. It had already been decided that they were going to add three new members, but four girls were chosen.

The winners were revealed on an episode of ASAYAN on April 16, 2000. The first one chosen was Ishikawa Rika, the second Kago Ai, the third one Yoshizawa Hitomi, and the fourth one Tsuji Nozomi.
