singles is the first best album released by MY LITTLE LOVER. It compiles all their singles since their debut until the album' release date except for the second A-side "My Painting" (from their debut single "Man & Woman / My Painting") and their ninth single "Private Eyes". The album also includes the new song "Ai no Uta ~Swallowtail Butterfly~", a self-cover of YEN TOWN BAND's 1996 hit song "Swallowtail Butterfly ~Ai no Uta~", which was written and composed by Kobayashi Takeshi. The best album was released on the same days as the group's first music video VHS collection, clips. The album reached #1 on the Oricon charts and charted for 12 weeks. As it sold 596,030 copies in 2002, it was the #24th best-selling album of the year.
