Akyuukai is the second mini-album released by Gazette. It is the second entry in a three consecutive month mini-album release campaign, the first of which is COCKAYNE SOUP and the last Spermargarita. The entire mini-album was later included on Gazette's first best of album Dainippon Itan Geisha-teki Noumiso Gyaku Kaiten Zekkyou Ongen Shuu. In 2005 it was reissued by KING RECORDS.
The original release reached #8 on the indies Oricon charts, and #100 on the major charts where it charted for a week. The 2005 reissue didn't chart on the Oricon.
