Hitoto Yo was inspired by Hou Hsiao-Hsien, the director of the movie that she features in (Café Lumière) to write it. "Yume Nakaba" was the theme song to the NHK special drama Kouda Kuniko no Koibumi, and "Seiro~MAZE" was used at the theme song to the TV program NHK Seishun Message '04. "Seiro~MAZE" is the Japanese version of "Sheng Lu" that Hitoto Yo sung in Mandarin prior to her debut. This single was released on the 100 year anniversary of famous author Ozu Yasujiro's birth. This single reached #28 on the Oricon weekly charts and charted for 11 weeks.
