Information

Pre-Debut

In September 2011, two months prior to their debut, the group uploaded to Brand New Music's official YouTube channel the music video of the song "Cheongsonyeoni Deureumyeon Andoeneun Sarangnorae (19 Song)" (청소년이 들으면 안되는 사랑노래; Love Songs That Teens Cannot Listen to (19 Song)). The song featured the lyrics of some songs banned by the South Korean Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, these being: Dong Bang Shin Ki's "Jumun - MIROTIC", BIGBANG's "Strong Baby", Exhibition's "Chwijungjindam", DJ DOC's "Na Ireonsaramiya", Vibe's "Suriya", 2PM's "Hands Up, GD&TOP's "Ppeogigayo" and "Jibe Gajima", 2NE1's "Naega Jeil Jal Naga" and 10cm's "Americano". The song was distributed for free. Two months later, and only ten days before their debut, the agency uploaded one more video of the group; this time main vocal Sanchez emulated Freddie Mercury, while the three members sang the first part of Girls' Generation "The Boys". Five days later, the third and last of their pre-debut videos was uploaded. The last video featured each member rapping in a different language (Korean, English, Japanese), the song was also distributed for free.

Debut

In November 23, 2011, the teaser video for their debut single, "Eolgul Tturheojigetda", was uploaded to YouTube and it was immediately received with controversy as it showed a young woman with cuffed feet being shot in the head. The digital single was released two days later in November 25, followed by a censored version of the music video two days later. The black and white "Full Clean Ver." music video did not feature the gunfire scene. In April 2012, the group released their second digital single "ICE", which was used as commercial theme song for Hite. "ICE" sampled Boney M.'s 1979 song "Gotta Go Home". Their third digital single "Miyeokguk" was released in August 7, 2012, with no music video produced for it. One week later, in August 16, their first mini-album PHANTOM CITY was released. The mini-album included all their first three digital singles and four new songs, including the lead track "BURNING".

Present

On January 16, 2013, three subtitled versions (English, Japanese and Korean) of their new music video were uploaded to Brand New Music's YouTube channel. The song, "Cho Yong Pil Cheoreom", was released one day later on their second mini-album Phantom Theory. The song' title made reference to one of the most known and influential South Korean pop singers, Cho Yong Pil.
