Information
Ikuina Akiko was born in Koganei City in the Tokyo Prefecture. When she was in school, she was a member of the Koganei Football Club. In 1985, she participated in the Horipro Talent Scout Caravan audition but lost to Yamase Mami. She went on to audition for Onyanko Club and passed, becoming the 40th member of the group on June 1986. She was a background vocalist on many of the group's soloists. She later become one of the main vocalists starting with the 6th single, "Koi wa Question". In 1987, She went onto to formed the subgroup Ushirogami Hikaretai with Kudo Shizuka and Saito Makiko.
After the breakup of Ushirogami Hikaretai on April 1988, Ikuina embarked on a solo career and released her first single, "Mugiwara de Dance", on May 1988. She also started an acting career by acting in many doramas.
In 2003, she got married to a commercial company producer. She later gave birth to a daughter in 2006.
