If a song has dominated (come in first place) the real-time charts of the at least 5 of the 9 major digital charts in South Korea simultaneously it is considered an unofficial "all-kill". Unofficial all-kills are often prevalent since a song may naturally achieve one within hours of its initial release, and are therefore easier to achieve, though still worthy of acknowledgment. Because these all-kills are based off of real-time charts, which are updated hourly, some artists can achieve dozens of unofficial all-kills with one song. In addition, getting a non-certified all-kill doesn't always mean that a song is a chart topper.

On top of that, the song must go on to top all of the daily charts affiliated with the iChart. This makes achieving an all-kill more difficult and that much more prestigious. A song can never achieve a certified all-kill on its first day of release since they need a whole day to factor in the daily rankings.

Instiz iChart (인스티즈가 아이차트) is a composite sales chart in South Korea. It combines and calculates scores based on the ranking data of a variety of charts to create an overall ranking.

Point System

Chart Points

The Instiz iChart uses ranking data of a variety of charts to accordingly update its real-time and daily charts. The real-time charts are updated every 30 minutes past each hour, the daily charts are updated once a day, usually at midnight. Each publisher updates these at different times. From the rankings gathered, the iChart attributes points to each song in the following manner:

  • 1st place: 10 points
  • 2nd place: 7 points
  • 3rd place: 5 points
  • 4th place: 3 points
  • 5th place: 3 points
  • 6th place: 2 points
  • 7th place: 2 points
  • 8th place: 2 points
  • 9th place: 1 point
  • 10th place: 1 point

Bonus Points

The iCharts also attribute bonus points to reflect the fact that some charts are more popular and more widely used than others.

Most Popular Bonus

The Bugs charts (real-time and daily) and the Mnet charts (real-time and daily) are the two major charts, and their points are tripled before being applied to the daily chart formula. The bonus points only apply to the daily charts and not the real-time ones.

Semi-Popular Bonus

Naver Music, Olleh Music, and Soribada charts are next, and receive double points before being applied to the daily chart formula.

Regular Bonus

CyWorld Music, Daum, Monkey3 Lastly, we have the regular charts, which do not have any multiplier applied to them.

Weekend Bonus

On top of chart-specific bonuses, there is also a "weekend bonus" system. Points on every real-time chart on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays are multiplied 3 times higher to reflect the difficulty of maintaining a high ranking over weekends.

All-Kills

If a song has dominated the real-time charts of the at least 5 of the 9 major digital charts in South Korea simultaneously it is considered an unofficial "all-kill".

To differentiate, the iCharts created the "Certified All-Kill". In order to achieve a certified all-kill, a song must top all 9 major digital real-time charts. On top of that, the song must go on to top all of the daily charts affiliated with the iChart. This makes achieving an all-kill more difficult and that much more prestigious. A song can never achieve a certified all-kill on its first day of release since they need a whole day to factor in the daily rankings.

There are also "Perfect All-Kills”, where a song must also rank first on the current Weekly iChart. This happens when a song maintains its daily all-kill continuously for many days during a week.
