BE AMBITIOUS is the debut indie mini-album released by JUDY AND MARY. It was originally released in 1992 on Chainsaw Records. This album was recorded before TAKUYA had joined the band, and is the band's only release to feature former guitarist Fujimoto Taiji. Four of the tracks were later re-recorded for their major label debut with TAKUYA on guitar. They are "POWER OF LOVE", "BLUE TEARS", "GLAMOUR PUNKS" (with YUKI singing instead of Onda Yoshihito) and "JUDY IS A PUNK ROCKER" (retitled "JUDY IS A T∀NK GIRL"). In 2001, the mini-album was re-released with a DVD as 1992 JUDY AND MARY -BE AMBITIOUS + It's A Gaudy It's A Gross-. The DVD contained footage from the band's indie period.
The original release of the album failed to chart on the weekly Oricon, as did the 2000 re-release. The 2001 CD+DVD re-release however reached #19 on the weekly Oricon chart, and stayed on the chart for a total of two weeks, selling 11,000 copies.
On this record, the band was credited as:
- Sarah: Vocals
- Ralph: Drums
- Twiddeldum: Bass, Vocals, and Chainsaw
- ALPH: Guitars
