"JUDY IS A PUNK ROCKER" is a punk-rock song recorded by JUDY AND MARY. The song is a reference to one of the band's titular characters. The song is a reference the 1977 single "Sheena Is a Punk Rocker" by the American punk band the Ramones (from their 1977 album Rocket to Russia. Yuki has said that "Judy" and "Mary" are the two conflicting personalities embodied in every human being. Judy is the reasoning behind their happy crazy songs; "Mary" is very negative and the mindset behind their slower songs. The song's title is a reference to this crazy wild said saying that Judy is the Punk Rocker. [1].
On their major label debut J・A・M, the song was changed to "JUDY IS A T∀NK GIRL". The new title is reference to the British comic Tank Girl; first released in 1988 and gained popularity in the early 1990s, leading to a 1995 cult classic film.
