"Marie-Anne" is the sixteenth single released by ALFEE. It was initially released as an EP record, then later as an 8cm CD. The title track was inspired by the French-German film Marianne de ma jeunesse (Marianne of My Youth). "Marie-Anne" is the band's breakthrough single. It initially charted outside the Oricon weekly top ten, but later reached #7. Overall, it charted for 32 weeks and sold approximately 373,000 copies, becoming the #30 best-selling single of 1983. Later that year, the band performed the song at the NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen.

Although the title is romanized as "Marie-Anne" on the single's cover, the pronunciation is "Mary Anne".

An English eurobeat cover called "MARY ANN" was sung by DAVE RODGERS and DOMINO on the album the ALFEE MEETS dance. A heavy metal version was also recorded by ANCHANG on his single "Cobra Twist".
