GIRLS' GENERATION is the self-titled first Japanese album released by Girls' Generation. It was released in three editions: a limited CD+DVD edition, a regular CD+DVD edition and a regular CD Only edition. The limited CD+DVD edition comes housed in a box with a special photobook and a mini-bag.
The album includes the four songs released on their first three Japanese singles, "GENIE", "Gee" and MR. TAXI / Run Devil Run", the Japanese version of their Korean song "Hoot", and seven new songs. "Let It Rain" was used as the commercial song for "Lipton EXTRA SHOT".
Six months later, the album was re-released as a repackaged album. It was released in three editions: a limited CD+DVD edition, a regular CD+DVD edition and a regular CD Only edition. The re-packaged album included one new song, "Time Machine", a Japanese version of their Korean hit single "The Boys" and remixes of "THE GREAT ESCAPE", "MR. TAXI" and "BAD GIRL". The limited CD+DVD edition comes housed in a special case with a digipak, and includes a 36-page photobook and a bonus DVD with music clips of "The Boys (English Ver.)" and "BAD GIRL". The regular CD+DVD edition brings the same as the limited edition plus a two B2-size posters and features an obi different from limited edition, DVD contents, case, cover artwork and photobook.
GIRLS' GENERATION reached #1 on the Oricon weekly charts and charted for 65 weeks.
