Sooyoung (2010)

Sooyoung (수영) is a Korean singer and actress. She is currently a member of the Korean girl group Girls' Generation, and she was a member of the disbanded J-Pop duo routeφ.

Profile

Information

In December 2001, at the age of 11, Sooyoung participated in the TV program Asayan's "Korea Japan Ultra Idol Duo Audition" and from 15,000 applicants, she was one of the two chosen, along with Takahashi Marina, to be in the duo routeφ. The group released three singles and one DVD and also modeled in the magazine melon and for the fashion brand ChubbyGang.

In summer of 2003, Sooyoung also started her career in Korea, appearing in an Samsung's Anycall commercial with Park Jung Ah. People took notice of her and she became one of the many girls labeled the "second BoA" by the media.

Currently, Sooyoung is a member of the Korean girl group Girls' Generation, under SM Entertainment. Girls' Generation were introduced as a new group during a recording of Super Junior's appearance on M.net School of Rock at Jung Shin Girls High School, where SM actor Go Ara and Sooyoung herself have attended.
