"Dynamite" is the 12th digital single released by BTS, recorded entirely in English. On August 3rd pre-orders were available for a limited vinyl and casette in the United States, selling out in just a few hours. On August 24th, aside from the main track and its instrumental counterpart, an "EDM Remix" and an "Acoustic Remix" version of the song were released in a extended version of the single. On August 28th a third digital single was released, including two extra remixes aside from the ones in the "Extended" version.
On September 17th, it was announced that as an appreciation for their Billboard charting, they would be releasing a new digital single with four more remixes, named "NightTime Version". The remixes previously released were compiled as a single under the tag "DayTime Version".
"Dynamite" broke several records on streaming platforms. On Youtube, it became the most-viewed music video in its first 24 hours since release. On Spotify, it debuted at #1 on the "Global Top 50" chart list with more than 7,7 million streams, the biggest debut to date. On iTunes, it topped the main charts in 104 different countries and regions. It also debuted at #1 on the Billboard HOT100 charts, the first Korean pop artist in history to do so.
"Dynamite" was used as a theme song for Samsung Galaxy S20 commercials worldwide.
On November 20th, 2020, on the same day as the release of their new album BE, a physical CD single was released limited to the United States. It included the main track, the instrumental track, and all of the remixes released on the "DayTime" and "NightTime" digital singles.
Another special remix was released on December 11th. It had a holiday-esque arrangement, remembering of Christmas carols.
The music video for "Dynamite" was released on August 21st. It broke the records for a video première and for most views in its first 24h, with over 100 million views.
It features the seven members singing and dancing in retro-style clothes in a 70s-themed room, a vinyl store, an ice-cream van or at a night-club. They also dance outdoors with the sunset behind them while wearing pastel-colored clothes.
On August 24th, a different version of the music video was released, called "B-Side". It follows the same guidelines as the original video, but includes unseen footage and some behind-the-scenes clips.
Another version was released on September 20th, 2020, tagged as "'70s remix". The video is made up with images from both the original music video and its "B-side" version, with filters to make it look like an old recording. Throughout the video facts about BTS and Dynamite appear highlighted, as well as members' messages about the production and behind the scenes.
A 'Choreography' version of the music video was released on September 26th. The members are featured performing their full choreography in two of the sets used in the original music video.
On December 11th, a special music video was released for their "Dynamite (Holiday Remix)" digital single. It shows BTS performing in front of a Christmas tree and surrounded by Christmas gifts. The members were recording with their mobile phones on a selfie stick; the music video was comprised by their recording and shots of them recording themselves. Member SUGA does not make an appearance due to him recovering from a shoulder surgery.
