Meitantei Conan Baker Street no Bourei (名探偵コナン ベイカー街の亡霊; Detective Conan The Phantom of Baker Street) is the sixth movie released for the Meitantei Conan anime. It was released in Japan on April 20th, 2002 and English-dubbed on February 16th, 2010. This is to be the first movie to be written by mystery novelist Nozawa Hisashi. It was the last of the Meitantei Conan films done in traditional animation. Baker Street no Bourei was the second movie with most income in 2002 compared to other Japanese films, with an income of 3.4 billion yen.[1]

Synopsis

Conan and his friends this time take the latest virtual reality machine named Cocoon to 19th century London. The king of information technology, Thomas Schindler holds a presentation for fifty chosen children of the rich and famous; however, nobody is aware of the horrible plan to deprive these children of their lives, if they cannot survive the game.

Once the game starts, the Cocoons take the children to their own historical world.

Due to the pre-programmed obstacles, these children end up risking their lives in this virtual game of life and death. Adventuring through this historical city shrouded in fog with familiar landmarks such as Big Ben, White Chapel and the Opera House, Conan meets many well-known English characters like Detective Sherlock Homes, Professor Moriarty and infamous Jack the Ripper.

The only way to return to the real world from this ominous place is to have at least one survivor. All hopes are pinned on Conan to escape this dreadful / mysterious virtual world. What will be the fate of our Conan?

The movie was first released on DVD on December 18th, 2002. It was first released on VHS on April 9th, 2003. The Blu-ray version wasn't released until October 28th, 2011.

The soundtrack album was released on April 17th, 2002.
