SKE48 Kenkyuusei (SKE48 研究生) are trainee idols from SKE48. They fill in for absent members in the theater and are promoted to official members to fill replace graduating members.

* Sato Mieko was originally a member of Team S, but was demoted February 14, 2009.
** Shinkai Rina and Mori Sayuki were members of Team S before being demoted on April 1, 2010
*** Iguchi Shiori, Uchiyama Mikoto, Kito Momona and Saito Makiko were members of Team KII before being demoted on December 6, 2010. They were later all re-promoted along with Furuhata Nao & Suga Nanako (5th gens) to fill in six empty spots in Teams S, KII & E.
**** Saito Yuna and Wako Junna were candidates for 2nd generation, but withdrew from the group before debuting.
