Dareka no Negai ga Kanau Koro is Utada Hikaru's 13th single. This is the fourth single of Utada's to have a DVD Single as well. Dareka no Negai ga Kanau Koro also features on Our Last Days -Casshern OST- as the Casshern theme song. Dareka no Negai ga Kanau Koro was only performed once (possibly because of the technical difficulty in the song). It reached #1 on Oricon charts for two weeks and charted for a total of 22 weeks. This single became the #14 single of 2004 in Japan. It reached #20 on World Charts for single airplay, and reached #2 for sales.

Dareka no Negai ga Kanau Koro is an acoustic power ballad, which was the ending theme song for Kiriya Kazuaki's debut movie, CASSHERN. The PV is completely filmed in greyscale. Dareka no Negai ga Kanau Koro was inspired by reading her husband's movie script for the movie, CASSHERN. Allegedly, Utada Hikaru felt so strongly about the script that she composed this song as the ending theme. One notable reporter said that after listening to Dareka no Negai ga Kanau Koro at the end of CASSHERN, the whole movie finally made sense and clicked together.
