Seiko Matsuda is Matsuda Seiko's special box compilation. The box compiles all Matsuda's albums and best albums since debut except for those released under Universal Music Japan, since the box was released by Sony Music Japan. It also includes the best album released by Sony while Matsuda was under Universal. Additionally, a new disk was included (74th) with six new versions of the originals included on bless you album. In total 873 songs were included. The albums with two or more disks were packaged individually.
All the CD cases were re-printed into LP sleeves, the CDs had been labeled and everything was housed into a doll house cake type box.
One year later, in 2007, it was announced the release of the special box Seiko Matsuda Premium Box. This release would contain all Matsuda's singles released in those year, although short time later the release was canceled.
Despite the high price of the release, it managed to reach #96 on Oricon charts. It was the most expensive release (¥100,000) to chart on Oricon Top100, beating Misora Hibari's special box Kyou no Ware ni Ashita wa Katsu (¥60,000) released in 1989.
