"Yoake no Shooting Star" is a pop song recorded by Hayashibara Megumi. The song is the first song ever recorded by Hayashibara. The song is a image song for the character Christina 'Chris' MacKenzie from the anime OVA Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in My Pocket. The song was used as an insert song for the series and was placed on the Sound Sketch II soundtrack as track #1. In 1992, Hayashibara placed the song on her second studio album, WHATEVER as track #1. The song was also later placed on Hayashibara's best of albums, VINTAGE A and VINTAGE White as track #1.
The lyrics and music for the song were written and composed by Karashima Midori. She also composed a few songs on Hayashibara's debut single "PULSE", and the songs on her fourth single and major label debut, "Nijiiro no Sneaker".
