For My Dear...
Hamasaki recorded this song, as well as "Depend on you," during the recording sessions for the "A Song for XX" album. She wrote the lyrics to "For My Dear..." not long after those of the previous single, "Trust" were completed. During the time when I had to write this song,... I had various worries like 'What does 'Ayu' stand for?' and 'Why am I singing songs? It's not like I've always wanted to become a [singer]...'" Regarding the lyrics, Ayu adds, "I talk often about how weak I was when I was small...I couldn't face people because I would turn bright red. It's sad that there are things I don't have the skill to say, but... what do I have to do to speak of my existence?...It seems that the present Ayu has found music. I write lyrics, and I sing them. Having found this, little by little I can now communicate with people. I can write down these feelings, and 'For My Dear...' is the manifestation of that." The single reached #9 on the Oricon charts and stayed on the charts for a total of seven weeks. During the first week on the Oricon the single sold 28,590 copies, since then the single has gone on to sell a total of 74,440 copies. ContentsTrack Listing
