a song is born is a collaboration single between Hamasaki Ayumi and KEIKO for the songnation project, which was created to raise funds to help after the 9/11 tragedy. This single reached #1 on the Oricon charts and charted for ten weeks. It sold 441,410 copies, becoming the #18 single of 2002.
Hamasaki released a solo version of this song on her fourth studio album I am.... In order to be distinguished from the duet, the nomenclature is slightly different: from "a song is born" it's changed to "A Song is born".
