- Originally a third generation member of AKB48 and a founding member of Team B, she was transferred to Team A during the AKB48 team shuffle in 2012, then back to Team B during the AKB48 Group Grand Shuffle in 2014. She announced her graduation on June 17, 2017 at the AKB48 49th Single Senbatsu Sousenkyo. Her graduation stage was held on December 26, 2017, and she graduated from the group on December 31, 2017.
- Originally auditioned for AKB48's 2nd generation.
- Yonezawa Rumi gave her the nickname "Mayuyu" (まゆゆ).
- Admires and respects Hirajima Natsumi.
- She likes cute things, the color pink and potatoes.
- Her favorite drink is Pirukuru (a health drink).
- Her least favorite food is pickles and she hates beetle larvae.
- It is often said that her face looks like her mother's.
- Mayu is in the wind instruments club at her school, and plays euphonium and was in the health committee.
