"Kaze wa Fuiteiru" is the 23rd major single (25th overall) released by AKB48. It was released in five versions: two limited CD+DVD editions (types A and B), two regular CD+DVD editions (types A and B), and a limited CD-only theater edition. The limited editions came with a national handshake event ticket, while the regular editions came with one of eighteen photos, and the theater edition came with a large handshake event ticket and random photo.
According to Oricon, the single sold 1,045,937 copies on its first day of release, beating their previous record of highest first-day sales with "Flying Get".
